Malaysia Property Investment

Malaysia’s property price and living index are relatively stable compared to Hong Kong and some other countries over the world. The rental return is between 4% to 5% normally, depending on the location and quality. The MYR/USD currency exchange rate hits 4.2 and is low in the MRY currency development history.

Malaysia’s road network is extensive, covering 144,403 kilometres, including 1,821 km of expressways. The main highway of the country extends over 800 km, reaching the Thai border from Singapore. Peninsular Malaysia has an extensive road network, whilst the road system in East Malaysia is not as well-developed. The main modes of transport in Peninsular Malaysia include buses, trains, cars and to an extent, commercial travel on airplanes.

Malaysia has six international airports. The official airline of Malaysia is Malaysia Airlines, providing international and domestic air service alongside two other carriers. Most of the major cities are connected by air routes. The railway system is state-run, and covers a total of 1,849 km. Popular within the cities are commuter rail and rapid transit, which reduces the traffic load on other systems, and is considered safe, comfortable and reliable.

In recent years, Malaysia has invested significantly and is actively expanding its transportation network. The MRT in Kuala Lumpur is currently in service, and the high-speed subway between Singapore and Kuala Lumpur is expected to service the population in 2026. The National Transport Policy (NTP) 2019-2030 is Malaysia’s new direction in developing efficient, integrated and secure transport towards a sustainable transport sector that accelerates economic growth and supports the well-being of the rakyat in line with an advanced nation status. The policy, launched by Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad on October 2019, consists of five thrusts and 23 specific strategies in providing smart, connectivity, easy and safe transportation system that meet the need of the people.
